With its slim and light design, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge will be the fourth iteration of the company’s flagship phone line, differentiating it from the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. The Edge will have its own Galaxy Unpacked event on Monday, May 12 at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT), but Samsung first unveiled the gadget at the same January event that unveiled the rest of the S25 series.
Additionally, Samsung revealed in an early teaser for the event that the phone would include a 200-megapixel wide camera and a revolutionary glass ceramic display called Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. A post from WinFuture that purports to disclose the phone’s design, size, camera, and other internal components may have been the largest unofficial leak of the S25 Edge to yet, in addition to the revelation of its display and camera.
This article is a part of CNET’s Samsung Event, which features news, information, and tips about Samsung’s best-selling items.
Here are some rumors about what the S25 Edge may bring, as well as what we currently know.
Two stand-in models and the S25 Edge
The Galaxy S25 Edge is displayed among fake phones that mimic the specifications of the original Galaxy S25.
What is the appearance of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge?
Although the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge’s precise measurements are still unknown, a display—which guests were unable to touch—that gave a sneak peek at the device during the Samsung Unpacked event in January showed that it is far thinner than a typical Android flagship phone. Samsung positioned the Edge’s first appearance next to mockups that were around the same thickness as other phones.
According to that display, the S25 Edge would be substantially thinner than the regular Galaxy S25 but would have proportions identical to the S25 in terms of height and breadth. This variant will only have two back cameras, unlike other S25 phones like the foldable Z Flip series, which feature three or more. When Samsung announced the Edge’s Unpacked event, they revealed that one of those cameras will be a 200-megapixel wide lens.
As Samsung said that the display will have a “sleek yet strong design,” we do know that it would be constructed using the latest Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.
That display statement is consistent with earlier remarks regarding the phone’s longevity, which, according to Annika Bizon, marketing director for Samsung UK, was a top concern despite its slimmer design. In an interview with TechRadar at Mobile World Congress 2025, Bizon first commented on the phone’s design, which was unveiled as a key feature in January, before hinting at the phone’s longevity.
“Durability [must] be included in the package for anything thin. For us, those are the two aspects [of the Edge] that are most intriguing. I understand that durability isn’t really thrilling, but it’s crucial. So keep an eye out because this phone will be the subject of some intriguing developments,” Bizon told TechRadar.
A purportedly leaked Galaxy S25 Edge specs sheet has surfaced on WinFuture, claiming to disclose the phone’s size, battery, colors, and other characteristics, even though we do not yet have official specifications. These consist of a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, a 3,800mAh battery, a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy CPU, 12GB of RAM, and storage options such as 256GB and 512GB. The list also states that a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera will be included with the verified 200-megapixel primary camera, but it provides no information on the front-facing camera. According to the WinFuture story, Samsung will offer its phones in a range of hues, including Jet Black, Icyblue, and Silver. A weight of 163 grams (5.74 ounces) is anticipated.
Presentation of Samsung Unpacked
At the end of Samsung Unpacked, a teaser for the Galaxy S25 Edge was displayed.
When can we expect to see the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge in stores?
Although the new phone’s exact release date has not yet been disclosed, it is anticipated that it will be made public following the Unpacked event on May 12. In keeping with the previously cited WinFuture forecast that recommended a launch at the end of May, this will probably make the Edge phones accessible in the late spring/early summer time frame.
The Edge will be one of at least two new devices coming soon, including a mixed reality headset that will run Android XR, according to TM Roh, Samsung’s VP of mobile devices, who spoke to Bloomberg in January.
What is the price of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge?
Roh stated in the same Bloomberg article that although Samsung has not yet decided on a price, the Edge is anticipated to be less expensive than the $1,300 Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
“Our goal is to position this at pricing that is lower than the Ultra models so it’s more accessible and has more customers,” Roh stated in the article.
This is consistent with the specifications listed by WinFuture, which state that the S25 Edge will cost 1,249 euros for the 256GB model and 1,369 euros for the 512GB model. In contrast, the 256GB variant of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra costs 1,449 euros, while the 512GB model costs 1,569 euros.
