Three Unknown Features of the iPhone SE Home Button

Although it has an older look, the 2022 iPhone SE is a contemporary phone with the newest A15 processor and 5G connectivity: It has a single camera, thick bezels, a comparatively tiny screen, and a physical home button that lets you swiftly unlock your device or access your home screen. But you may be shocked to hear that your thumb can be used for a lot more.

To make the iPhone simpler to operate with one hand, you may also use the home button to reduce the screen brightness. Here are some tips and tactics to help you become proficient with the home button, regardless of whether you have an older iPhone with Touch ID or are planning to upgrade to the new iPhone SE.

Utilize your iPhone as a magnifying glass.

You can use any smartphone as a magnifying glass. To zoom in, launch the camera, aim it at the object you want to examine more closely, and then pinch out. There is a simpler method for enlarging text or real-world items on an iPhone, however, and it uses the home button.

By triple-clicking your home button, you may use your iPhone as a magnifying glass thanks to the Magnify accessibility function. However, you must first set it up. Navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut on your iPhone, and then choose Magnifier. Triple-clicking the home button now will take you to the Magnifier function, which allows you to zoom in close while simultaneously turning on the flashlight, adding filters, increasing saturation brightness, and taking unsaved photos that you can then zoom in on. To remove the accessibility function, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

Reduce the screen’s brightness more than normal.

Zoom, which allows you to zoom in on your screen and adjust settings that may make the screen simpler to scan, is another accessibility tool that can be connected to your home button. Low Light is one of those filters that lets you reduce the screen’s brightness further than you could by just lowering the Control Center’s standard brightness setting.

Once again, choose Zoom under Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut. A little button ought to show up on your screen when you triple-click your home button. Because your screen will be zoomed in, hit the button and then choose Zoom Out. Press the button once again, selecting Choose Filter > Low Light this time. Your brightness will decrease as a result, and it may decrease considerably more if your normal brightness is also decreased. Triple-clicking the home button once again will turn off the function.

Make using your screen with one hand simpler.

Even though the iPhone SE is the company’s smallest model right now, if you have short fingers, you may find it difficult to use with one hand. This problem is clearly resolved by using two hands, but if that isn’t possible in your case, you can always press the home button to activate Reachability, which will put the top of the screen within reach.

Toggle on Reachability under Settings > Accessibility > Touch to activate this accessibility feature.Simply double-tap the home button gently (do not press it down) to activate the function. In order to facilitate one-handed navigation, the top half of the screen will descend to the bottom half. Either double-tap the home button again or press on the top half to return to full display.
