FaceTime conversations may be quite busy. There are several ways a video chat may go wrong, from making sure you have a strong connection to prevent choppy footage to making sure the other person doesn’t put their phone up to their ear. However, you may reduce the cacophony by turning on the Voice Isolation function on your iPhone.

In 2021, iOS 15 was released, introducing voice isolation for FaceTime conversations. This function muffles background sounds, such as your dog barking at something outside or children playing in a neighboring room, so that others on the FaceTime conversation can hear you well.
But contrary to what you would think, the Voice Isolation function is not located in Settings. Rather, to activate it, you must be on a FaceTime call. However, when you turn on the function, it will remain active throughout your subsequent FaceTime session.
To improve the clarity of your voice during FaceTime chats, follow these steps to enable Voice Isolation. Thanks to iOS 16.4, you may now activate Voice Isolation for voice calls if you desire them.
How Voice Isolation is Enabled
1. Make a FaceTime call or join one.
2. To reach your Control Center, swipe down from the upper-right corner of your screen.

3. In the upper-right area of your screen, tap Mic Mode.
Fourth, choose Voice Isolation.
Pro tip: To use this function, you don’t need to finish a FaceTime conversation with loved ones. By following the above instructions, you may activate Voice Isolation and make a FaceTime call to yourself.
How to make Wide Spectrum available
In Mic Mode, Wide Spectrum is an additional function in addition to Voice Isolation. In a FaceTime call, Wide Spectrum amplifies background noise without altering your speech, while speech Isolation muffles other sounds.
Wide Spectrum works well for FaceTime conference calls and for FaceTiming a big group of people. Wide Spectrum may assist you and your family in singing a happy birthday to your younger sibling simultaneously if they are moving away to attend college.

To activate Wide Spectrum, repeat the previous instructions, but choose Wide Spectrum rather than Voice Isolation.
The next time you make a FaceTime call, Wide Spectrum will remain enabled, much like Voice Isolation. Use the preceding procedures and choose Standard to turn off Voice Isolation or Wide Spectrum. Your microphone will revert to its original setting as a result.
